One of our Aims is to offer training to young people from local schools within the area’s of Stockton Middlesbrough and Redcar, who have not done so well in there education, but would like to have a go or qualify for a seafaring career through various qualifications we can offer them.

We are currently looking for a school or schools to form partnerships with and hopefully expand the choices we can offer.

As well as pupils who have not done so well in there education, we hope to also be able to include young people who may have wandered of the track and found themselves in trouble for various reasons, but are prepared to work at aiming towards a better future. This could include pupils who are under rehab for various reasons, or putting past events behind them from the legal system.

With the correct training and guidance students can in fact move on to far better things and carve a good career path out within the maritime industry. The whole idea of been a deck hand may not seem exciting, but considering with a little bit of work it does not take much to be looking at good well paid jobs as within the industry. We will give the opportunity and chance to make the first steps towards a great future and if wanted they can move on through our own training to higher things.

The main course offered is the C&G 4854 Nautical Studies. Within the structure of the course offered here to start with, young people will learn Navigation, chart work, Radio communication, Sonar and many other topics within the course. The STCW 95 pre-sea certificate’s cover all this. We will also be able to offer more courses as they become available with our own bridge simulators.

As well as the training side we do not just train and waive good by, We search for places for our students to obtain there first jobs at sea. Our own department which is equipped for this will continue to work with the student until they have got there first place. Most students will be given a job option while still training. And will start as soon as they complete the course with satisfactory outcome.
